There has been a dramatic drop in the willingness of people in Germany to take the "swine flu" jab, with only 13 % now saying they are willing to have the shot compared to 51% in July.
According to a poll of 1000 people published today, Friday, 66 % of Germans say they will categorically refuse the jab, about twice as many as in previous polls.
20 % of the respondents said they were not sure if they would take the jab or not.
85 % said they though the threat of the "swine flu" was being exaggerated.

Berlin (AP) Kurz vor Beginn der bundesweiten Impfaktion gegen die Schweinegrippe hat die Impfbereitschaft der Bundesbürger einen Tiefpunkt erreicht. Während sich im Juli noch 51 Prozent impfen lassen wollten, sind jetzt nur noch 13 Prozent dazu entschlossen, wie eine am Freitag veröffentlichte Emnid-Umfrage für N24 zeigt. 20 Prozent sind noch unentschlossen, 66 Prozent schließen eine Impfung kategorisch aus. Zudem sagten 55 Prozent, dass sie nach der Diskussion um eine «Zwei-Klasse-Impfung» tief verunsichert seien.
«Die öffentliche Diskussion um die Verabreichung verschiedener Impfstoffe für Politiker und Volk führt dazu, dass viele glauben, sie bekämen ein minderwertiges Mittel», sagte Emnid-Geschäftsführer Klaus-Peter Schöppner. Viele zögen ihre Schlüsse aus der früheren Diskussion um die Vogelgrippe. «Auch damals wurde die Gefahr beschworen, ohne dass etwas passierte. Viele glauben, dies könne auch jetzt so sein.» Der Umfrage zufolge halten 85 Prozent der Bundesbürger mittlerweile die Gefahr der Schweinegrippe für übertrieben. Emnid befragte am 21. Oktober rund 1.000 Bundesbürger.
