Canadian authorities admit "higher than average" anaphylactic reactions to swine flu jab

News - Latest News

Authorities in the Canadian province of British Columbia have noted a higher-than-average number of anaphylactic reactions in people who have had the pandemic flu vaccine. Anaphylaxis is a sudden allergic reaction that can involve hives, swelling around the eyes or mouth, difficulty breathing or swallowing and a sudden blood pressure drop. It requires immediate treatment and can be life-threatening. A certain number of anaphylactic reactions are expected and normal in large-scale vaccination campaigns, which reach millions of people. British Columbia has reported around twice as many reactions so far than are usually sees in typical flu vaccine campaigns. Nevertheless, these figures are still within normal range. No one has died. Health officials are investigating the cases, which as of yet have no identified pattern. They have occurred in people using both adjuvanted and unadjuvanted H1N1 vaccines. Some of them received a pandemic and seasonal flu vaccine at the same visit even though there is no data on how safet this is.
